Bacteriostatic water

Bac water (bacteriostatic water): sterile purified water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, in sealed 10 ml vials. Packs of 1, 10 and 50, or unlabelled in bulk.

About Bacteriostatic water

Bacteriostatic water, or bac water, is sterile purified water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The preservative keeps the water usable for multiple withdrawals over 28 days once the stopper has been pierced, which is why it is the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilised laboratory reagents. Ours is filled into 10 ml Type I borosilicate vials, sealed with a butyl stopper and a blue flip-off cap, and lot-numbered with the expiry printed on the label. Packs of 1, 10 and 50, or unlabelled in bulk packs of 50, 100 and 200. Store sealed between 2 and 25 °C away from light, and discard 28 days after first opening. Held in UK stock; orders placed before 3pm Monday to Friday leave the same working day by Royal Mail Tracked 24. For laboratory use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
